This week I'm sharing an inspiring conversation I had with the awesome Kate Wicker, author of the newly-published Getting Past Perfect: How to Find Joy and Grace in the Messiness of Motherhood.

Kate shares beautifully about her own struggles in motherhood, along with what ultimately inspired her to write this important book. Tune in and let us know what you think!

This week we are talking about the winter blues and some simple ways to combat the feeling of BLAHHHHHHH this time of year. We talked about this in episode #008 last year, and I recap some of those ideas as well as share 5 new ones:

1) Celebrate something.
2) Be deliberately grateful.
3) Fake it till you make it.
4) Move your body.
5) Challenge yourself.

I share more ideas and suggestions for each of these, as well as some examples from my own life. I hope you will share your ideas with me too. I love hearing from you!

In this week's show, I also share some girlie-girlness, talking about some nail health and beauty tips. Here are the links I promised for that:

Great Lakes Gelatin Collagen supplement

UV lamp/nail dryer (for gel polish)

Gelish nail polish starter kit (everything you need to get started, besides the lamp is included here!)

In this week's show, we also share some reader suggestions for podcasts to listen to. Let me know if you have more to add to our list. Comment here, or send me your feedback by email or voicemail.

This week we are talking about some simple ways to help and support your husband in his fatherhood. We all want our husbands to be the best dads they can be, right? We all want what's best for our children, right? Well, let's consider some small steps we can take to encourage our husbands in the important part of their lives.

The ideas I share are based on this blog post and are as follows:

1) Take notice
2) Respect his authority
3) Criticize carefully
4) Give him a break

Send me your thoughts, ideas, and struggles with regard to supporting your husband in his fatherhood. I love hearing from you and I would love to have your feedback to share on a future episode of Girlfriends.

Also mentioned in this week's show is the You're Worth It! day retreat for women. For more information about how to bring me and the encouraging, empowering, inspiring day to the women of your community, please check out my retreat page and let's connect!

In this week's show, we also share some reader suggestions for podcasts to listen to. Let me know if you have more to add to our list. Comment here, or send me your feedback by email or voicemail.

the topic of practicing generosity in marriage is an important and a timely one, because every one of us who is married is called to holiness inside of our marriage, and that is not going to be an easy thing.

We all have times in marriage where things go great and it's easy to get along, but all also experience tougher times when it's hard to keep going, and where commitment and love become a choice -- and a HARD one at that!

I share some of my own less-than-stellar experiences and behaviors inside of my own marriage. I have more often than I like to admit chosen to be selfish and prideful in place of practicing generosity in marriage. It's important that we be honest with one another about the challenges of marriage, because they are real, but it is equally important that we call on one another to be better and to live up to our commitment in marriage, even through the tough times. Join me in talking about this and share your feedback.
